
Embedding clinical and corporate governance in the face of growth, ESG and compliance

Abstract
An overarching theme of the 148 recommendations that arose from the 2021 Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety focused on the need to improve governance across the Australian Aged Care sector.
In the years that have followed, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the regulator of long term care in Australia) has implemented a suite of governance reforms aimed at reforming governance across Australia’s 2,600 long term care facilities.
In addition to the regulatated governance reforms, the Hall & Prior Health and Aged Care Group, a leading provider of long term care with 39 services in Australia have made significant investments into governance systems to ensure that all levels of management and executive have access to quality data system, leading to better decisions and better care.
This presentation will detail how an Australian long term care provider has embedded clinical and corporate governance in a period of significant reform and organisational growth.

Daniel Hitchcock is the Chief Operating Officer of Hall & Prior Health and Aged Care in Western Australia.
Daniel started his career as a clinical Occupational Therapist in the acute sector before completing an MBA and pivoting towards the aged care sector.
Daniel’s current role oversees the operation of Hall & Prior’s 25 long term care services in Western Australia, along with specialist home care and disability service offerings.
