Aashaya Jasri Resort – Enhancing travel opportunities for people living with dementia and disability through inclusion and accessibility
Presenter:
Rodney Jilek, Community Home Australia, Australia
Abstract
Aashaya Jari Resort is Community Home Australia’s first foray into delivering all inclusive, accesible travel options for people living with dementia and disability. The resort is not a segregated “dementia village” and continues to operate as a mainstream tourist resort with the added ability to provide support to those who desire an assisted travel package.
The resort has been fully renovated to ensure wheelchair accessibility throughout the 2,500 square metre grounds and offers a number of fully accessible villas meeting Australian, US and European disability standards. A range of medical appliance aids are available and personal and clinical care supports are available from degree qualified Registered Nurses.
The need for support should not preclude experiencing the joys of international travel.
