The study identified the factors affecting health-seeking behaviour among 561 elderly persons age sixty and above at EVRMC-OPD Family Medicine Department.
First, the socio-demographic profile (to include sex, marital status, education level, occupation, religion and household size) was explored.
Second, two main factors were considered: utilization of health services (medical insurance, co-morbid and other services, and the presence of disability); and accessibility to health services (location of residences, health insurance availability within the locality, and source of care).
The elderlies were interviewed to obtain socio-demographic data and the two main factors affecting health-seeking behaviour.
