Make Way for a New Breed of Entrepreneurs – here come the seniors

Forget the myth that it’s the young and tech savvy leading the way in creating new businesses. Globally Senior Entrepreneurs are a fast-growing segment.

The ageing of the population means that starting a business is an option an increasing number of people over 55 years are taking up, often for the first time. Seniors often have the skills, networks, financial resources and time available to contribute to this form of economic activity.

At the age of sixty one Geoff Pearman went into business for the first time. Six years on he has a successful Trans Tasman consulting business focused on age and work.

In this presentation Geoff, the founder of Senior Entrepreneurs New Zealand (SENZ) will discuss the setting up of SENZ, lessons learned and will report the results of two annual surveys of members. The presentation will also include a short video presentation of members discussing the importance of having a network of “fellow travelers” to connect with.
